Harper County Community Foundation Receives STEM Education Leadership Award Presented by Nasdaq and EverFi
Harper County Community Foundation (HCCF) was honored for the 2015-2016 school year at the STEM Education Leadership Awards presented by Nasdaq and EverFi. This national award recognizes key organizations’ significant efforts to improve STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math) education and career readiness for students across North America and in their local community. Sixteen institutions were honored with this distinction at a ceremony last month at the Nasdaq Marketsite in New York City.
Honorees were selected based on a set of criteria that included the scale and educational impact of their STEM education initiatives as well as the overall potential impact it has for under-resourced communities.
“Our country faces a growing shortage of employees who are skilled in STEM, and lack basic personal finance skills” said EverFi Founder and CEO Tom Davidson. “The organizations we’re recognizing here are committed to igniting student interest in these critical topics and exposing students to the jobs of the 21st century.”
Harper County Community Foundation is committed to providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully leverage technology in a responsible and safe way, as well as preparing them to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
